PostSubject: Expatriate at Paris on december 16th   Expatriate at Paris on december 16th EmptyWed 3 Feb 2010 - 16:24

I was at this gig too :] was great, I arrived around 7 pm and I was just in front of Damian, best spot ever *o* the show was so good, drove me crazy ;D when Ben came in the crowd during Are You Awake I was very impressed, they totally rule ! My friends and I stayed after the show to speak with them a little and take some pictures (a very good friend of mine gave a drawing of the band to Damian and he kept showing it to everyone after xD), and we had a few drinks and spoke to Damian. Great night !

PostSubject: Here, the translation of my review   Expatriate at Paris on december 16th EmptyFri 5 Feb 2010 - 22:59

(I apologize if I made mistakes)

We took the car around 1:30 pm, then direction the subway « Porte de la Chapelle » to avoid the crowd on the roads. Arrived at 3:00 pm approximately, time to find the street xD. We pointed ourselves in front of the room, 4 people in front of us only.
After 2 hours of waiting, we saw the group of the 1st part arriving with all of their equipment then technicians speaking English with a van with a German registration. One hour later, the vigils which inform us that Expatriate arrived the morning and that they will open the doors around 7:00 pm.
After 4 long hours of waiting in the cold with 2 scarves, 3 pairs of socks, gloves etc (armed well xD), finally the opening of the doors with people who were sorry in the line of whom a person who says “Sorry, Excuse me” so I push myself automatically and in fact (reaction time lol) it was Damian then returning in the corridor I cross Cristo with a large blue winter coat and finally arrived at the entry of the room where Dave was chatting and telling that they leave to eat while we attend the first part ^^. I didn’t see Ben, I was surely somewhere else.
Next I discover finally my place, right in front of the scene, the legs stuck to the enclosures and the elbows on the scene one might as well say that I had a superb sight with the artists with hardly 1 meter of me. Moreover, I noticed it since I nearly (on two occasions during the concert) to take Ben’s guitar’sleeve in the face when it dropped ; also when I wanted to take a photograph, even without zoom, I was too near and I sometimes had suspect parts on the picture lol. And, around the end, Ben walked on my bag which was put on the edge of the stage xD.
As far as the first part is concerned, we heard much more the instruments than the singer’s voice thus when he asked to sing with him, nobody did it since we understood nothing =/. Otherwise, the singer of this group had a superb guitar with the flag of the United Kingdom and of course he was full of vitality like the other members. Small snag when he banged into the microphone of the bass player after doing the splits in the air while he was playing and the bass player who turned too much his back on the audience… Otherwise, Expatriate was really enormous, a great contact with the public in an “intimate” room which allowed that ^^, a great environment… Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised !
As Ben said it, it was the last concert of the round in France and they were really glad to be there. Afterwards for the strong moments of the concert, the descent of Ben in the public during “Are you awake?” while Dave was pretending to point a gun at Ben by fixing him; the small presentation of “Spaces between” like a love song and that's when a girl shouts “I love you” and Ben replies “I love you too” xD; and also, when girls shouted « Ben » he said “It’s my name x)” with a small smile =).
Once again a great communication with the audience, Damian got in touch with a girl of the 1st rank. An amazing show with a cool public and a great space, not crush in the back etc At the end, Dave throws his towel, Ben his médiator (which has been landed beside my father who didn’t have the time to collect it > < xD) then the technicians give the tracklists which I didn’t take (for a bit of paper that I had seen at the beginning of the concert with my obvious proximity from the scene x)). End of the concert around 10:15 pm, obviously it passed too quickly ; ) then we took the subway again in order to go back home to be ready for class the next morning > < lol
