In my opinion, these lyrics have a very sensual connotation

Soooo, what do I think about that song? I think it's about a failed relationship again. I love all those metaphors and images the lyrics create. The "speaker" thought he could manage to be with his partner but he failed. He wasn't the person his partner wanted to be with. So they decided to live their lives without the other.
(I know I wouldn't get an "A" at school for this interpretation but that's what's in my mind right now about the song.)

i had aproximatively the same feeling about this song, though some lyrics are still a bit confused in my mind (i mean i don't really see what the narator means sometimes... but as English isn't my mother tongue... =/)

To my ears the lyrics sound really grown-up. And it's brave to make the decision to end an relationship 'though you're still in love with each other, but you've noticed it won't work in any way.
