Althought I'm a HUUUUUGE lover of Expatriate, I'm quite opened to other styles of music like jazz for instance. One of my favourite artist in that category is Jamie Cullum. Great musician, great pianist and such a showman! He's not playing pure Jazz and that's why I love him. I have all his albums, with a preference for his reruns album. A pure gem... Seen him in concert once in Le Zénith of Paris and will be part of his next gig in June, in L'olympia, THE most famous concert hall of the french capital! //sure
Other great discovery: Melodie Gardot, my last jazz purchase... Beautiful too, very sweet and relaxing voice... perfect to be listened in a comfortable sofa, on a rainy day when there's nothing to do outside!
Love Madeleine Peyroux too and Kyle Eastwood (yes, the son of the great Clint...)
And what about you ? Does someone like jazz too ?

That's interesting, as I've never thought of Jamie Cullum AND Jazz. I like his last CD, but wouldn't say I'm a fan.

I've been raised listening to very different styles of music, and jazz was very present during my childhood, so it makes me feel at ease and peaceful. Unfortunately i don't listen to much jazz since i'm living on my own :/ the only band i'm listening that made music close to jazz is St Germain, and i really love it <3 I should listen to Jamie Cullum :]

oooh yeah ! i love St Germain too :) that's funny cause i've never thought of Jammie Cullum as a jazz singer. But i like his work. When i'm thinking of Jazz i must mention Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Might sound like old music but they were Jazz gods :)

St Germain are really good aren't they ?! Love their album Tourist, very peaceful to listen on the road =* And yeah Miles Davis is one of the Greatest, i'm particularly fond of music he made for the French movie "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" (ok it may be related to the fact that Stefan Olsdal likes it too when he gets intimate but... what can i say ? )

Good thread idea ^^ I really like the scandinavian jazz musicians like Nils Petter Molvaer, Nils Landgren, Silje Nergaard, Esbjörn Svenson Trio, Jan Garbarek and so on. They all have a different kind of jazz interpretation, but it so typical scandinavian like. The athmosphere they create on their concerts is just breathtaking Another great jazz musician is Klaus Doldinger, who composed also loads of famous music tracks for films.
