Bedside Table book Empty
PostSubject: Bedside Table book   Bedside Table book EmptySat 15 Jan 2011 - 18:07

Everything is in the tittle...
What is the book on your bedside table right now ? (hmm except if you don't like to read before going to bed =P)

for me, lately there have been quite some books on my bedside table... As i study literature at school (among other subjects) there are books i have to read for my classes, and books i like to read for me. Right now i have "L'ère du Soupçon" written by Nathalie Sarraute, which is a theory of the literary movement called le nouveau roman. It is absolutely not what i would have read on my own, i don't think literary criticism is literature... But anyway i had to read it and in the end it was interesting to read the point of view of an author concerning literature.
But i quickly turn back to Edgar Allan Poe's novels i had bought in a flee market :)

nice one julie =)

i am currently 2 books at once.

"lila lila"
and
"sorry"

lila lila is a drama / lovestory, ... about a guy falling for a girl, and to get her attention he pretends to be the author of an amazing manuscript, .... she falls for him, .. the manuscript gets in the hands of publishers and so the mess starts ;) love it!

sorry is about a group of friend creating an agency. the sorry agency. where ppl can go if the want to say sorry to someone but domnt have the strenght or idea themselves to do it.
one day, those friends go to a flat to say sorry to someone .. and find a dead body and a message "do ur job now and say sorry to her for me", ... something like that ^^
i am not sure yet what to think of it.

"The Puppy That Came For Christmas ..."

- Now A Sunday Times Best Seller

I'm Finishing reading this book and i love it

When Megan and Ian got married, they wanted to start a family. But their desire to be parents ended up bringing one furry bundle of fun after another into their lives. At the same time as embarking on difficult and traumatic fertility treatment, Megan and Ian became involved with a charity which provides helper dogs to people with disabilities. And into their home one day came Emma, a soft, sweet-natured puppy with whom they fell instantly in love. However, after six months Emma had completed her training and was given to someone in need. To get over their broken hearts, Megan and Ian took in another pup: Freddy. And fell in love all over again . . . only for Freddy to move on too. Megan and Ian didn’t know if they could keep taking in these adorable puppies and giving them away later. It was getting too hard, too painful. But then, one Christmas, little Traffy came along . . .

Now I'm reading Neil Gaiman's "American Gods".
I'm only half through it, but it's a pretty talented work.
At first I was really scared by the word "fantasy" in the description, because it's definitely not the genre I am in love with.
But while at sea I found 2 small stories by this author without knowing anything about him or his work and I enjoyed them.So I gave this book a try.
And when I started reading I kind of forgot about that "fantasy" detail very quickly.

Wikipedia: "American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning[1] novel by Neil Gaiman. The novel is a blend of Americana, fantasy, and various strands of ancient and modern mythology, all centering on a mysterious and taciturn protagonist, Shadow."

seems really interesting ! i might try to read it when i have time

i finally have a bit more time to read, that's such a relief for me ! i'm beginning to read some classical books of the American literature and i must say i'm really enjoying it ! so i'm currently reading The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald. It is, i think, really interesting to see the atmosphere in the post world war one in the USA. Plus i love the way Fitzgerald wrote, and it's helping me to learn more vocabulary ;)
